Make renewable energy!

Nova Scotia is working to develop an energy supply that is greener, more reliable and closer to home.

You can participate in the shift to renewable energy sources by joining the Province's enhanced net metering program. Net metering means that you can connect a small renewable energy source to Nova Scotia's distribution grid. If you create more electricity than you use, you will be paid for the excess amount you contribute to the province's supply.

Eligible sources include:

  • Solar energy
  • Wind energy
  • Run-of-the river hydroelectric energy
  • Ocean-powered energy
  • Tidal energy
  • Wave energy
  • Biomass
  • Landfill gas
